Twitter seems to introduce incremental new features at a steady pace.
Recent hits include expanded content cards and their answer to Facebook's cover image for your profile. This time around they're getting fancier with formatting of a tweet as you type it. Check it out:
When I first experienced it last night I thought it was a strange mistake akin to pasting already formatted text into a rich-text editor. Not so. Tweet highlighting lights up things like hashtags, "@" mentions, and links. It also highlights in red any text beyond their 140 character limit.
Though the highlights aren't currently interactive as you type them it's a great step toward better informing Twitter users as they compose a tweet. What do you think? Is the new highlighting distracting or delightful?
