What to Expect

It's been 15 years in the whirlwind known as the web business. We've seen everything from simple re-designs to hearing about a "web page like the Facebook".

We’ve met business leaders and clients who serviced fortune 500 companies and potential clients that could “print a business card on a walnut” - no, I’m not kidding. We’ve had some success and certainly have missed the mark on an occasion or more. Throughout, we at SiteCrafting have been motivated to evolve, to be better than we were the day before and to continually strive for greatness.

I’ve been asked on occasion what it means to be in the web business this long. I generally reply, that it’s given us the opportunity to make more mistakes and to learn how not to make them again. It’s also given us the confidence to know what works and what will most certainly not when it comes to a project.

As the world has changed, so have our service offerings. We’re no longer doing IT Support (we were not very good at it), but we are offering award winning design, web strategy, user testing, UI/UX design, and dedicated project managers.

What does this all mean?

Well it means that you can expect us to do the following:

1. We will treat your project and your money like it is ours

I wrote an earlier blog post about how it is in your best interest to disclose budget and timeline. If we know how much money you have for the project, we will design the best possible solution as if it were our money being spent. This means we will not rush to the bottom on price, but instead will offer a solution and a set of services that are sustainable for your budget and ours. We do no one any good if we eat costs and put our own sustainability in jeopardy. Trust me when I say that it is in our client’s best interest that we be here.

2. We will tell you the truth

We will offer options, but all of them will be grounded in the reality of what is actually possible. I’ve sold my share of vaporware - knowing that our developers can build it - but if it doesn’t yet exist, we will let you know. We will also tell you the truth about your impact on a project and will own our mistakes.

3. We will be your partner and your guide

I used to always say that I wanted each relationship with our partners to be such that either of us would be happy to see the other if we ran into each other on the street. Just as I want to make sure we take care of our relationship with you, we as a firm want clients who value the services we provide.

4. We want your referral

The majority of all our business comes from word of mouth. We want to earn your referral, though delivery of website or application that delights you. When we mess up, we want to fix it, when we succeed we want to know it. We want to celebrate in your success.

A Glimpse Behind the Curtain

Internally, I have three goals for our team. They may seem simple, but here they are.

  1. Each project must result in a sustainable profit for SiteCrafting
  2. We need to build Kick Ass websites that we are proud of and want to share
  3. Our clients need to feel so valued and that our business takes personally their experience with SiteCrafting.

There are great people at SiteCrafting. They are committed to each other and to our clients and partners. Some projects are smoother than others, but at every instant we are striving to live up to the high expectations we set for ourselves - that is what you can expect.
