Why I Love Programming for the Web

Two words: Star Trek. As I stroll back via my Netflix queue through episodes first watched as a child the appeal is clear. They could do pretty much anything (especially with that schnazzy deflector dish)! Whatever threat came up on their sensors, viewscreen, or in their minds was solved with all kind of creative uses of what they had at their disposal which somehow never seemed to present them with any limits.

Magic of television and neatly wrapping up plots in an hour aside, it was pretty inspirational. The web is a manifestation of that for me wherein I've always felt like I could do absolutely anything with just a programming language or two, a server, and the internet. Hiccups that arise are easily tackled especially in a collaborative environment like our office here. Put a couple of our dev minds on it and you'll hear dialog that sounds like the bridge crew of the Enterprise trying to figure a way out of a seemingly hopeless scuffle with the Borg.

It may seem silly but it's an incredible way to allow the mind to operate logically and creatively. The medium of the web may seem daunting for beginners but once you know your stuff the sky (or final frontier?) is the limit.
