Parametrix is an engineering, planning, and environmental services firm. Together with local government and state transportation departments, they wanted an interactive tool that would focus on a particular area of Washington State, allowing travelers to comment on areas of interest, problem spots, and favorite destinations. The information gathered would be used to make that stretch of Washington highway more accessible and appealing to travelers.Needs
Centralized communication was the goal for this project. Parametrix wanted to pull information from a large geographic area, as well as distribute information about the project to the public.Solution
SiteCrafting developed a web-based drawing tool that allows users to free-form draw or place virtual push pins on various maps. Users are encouraged to comment on a variety of items including scenic areas, hazardous areas, and areas that could use additional resources. Since the project spans several miles, not all residents are able to attend public hearing meetings in person, this tool allows them to submit their feedback online. Once their map is complete they can send it to themselves, submit it to the project or print it out.Tools

“With the website, the public can go to the map, put in a push pin to point to a specific area and then write their own comments about it. It’s a much more visual way to get their important input.
SiteCrafting kept the website really simple and easy for people to use. We have an older population in the area and wanted them -- as well as young folks who are very web savvy—to feel comfortable with the site."

"The tool we worked with SiteCrafting to develop makes it easy for people to go to the web, find a location and pinpoint a particular spot and give us input as to why it’s important, if there’s a problem there, how they feel about it, etc.
It was a good, collaborative process with SiteCrafting."

One of Pierce County's premier home builders approached SiteCrafting to create a scalable, web-based business management solution. After building more than 4,000 homes in over 25 years, the company has expanded into other Puget Sound communities including Clark, Franklin, King, Kitsap, Snohomish, Thurston and Yakima counties. The company offers a wide range of unique locations from small neighborhoods to larger, master-planned communities.Needs
This client needed uninterrupted access for superintendents on the job site to update construction status, communicate with subcontractors, and keep in sync with their scheduling department.Solution
Laptops were too cumbersome, expensive, and not as durable for use in the field so SiteCrafting created views and access of their intracompany website just for those users on mobile devicesTools

Washington United Terminals operates a shipping terminal in the Port of Tacoma, offering the shortest gateway from Asia and the best protected harbor in Puget Sound. With four 50-ton cranes and fleet of support vehicles, our client offers superior cargo handling for ocean, rail, and ground transport.Needs
Washington United Terminals needed not only a fresh website design, but a way to keep the site current and to most importantly provide up to the minute information for their customers.Solution
SiteCrafting built a custom CMS (Content Management System) for WUT, but we didn’t stop there. We worked to integrate live web cams into the site so users could see the wait time at the gate and in the port pickup line. The system offered real time wait and turn time as well as integration with the client's data systems for real-time Container Tracking. Users now not only know that their container is ready, but how long it will take to pick it up. Now that’s a cool web tool.Tools

"We now have a camera at both the inside and outside gates and it’s posted on our website, so it gives truckers an idea of how long the lines are. Truckers can key in a container number and the site will tell them if the container is offloaded or still on the ship or if it’s off loaded, but has a custom hold on it. Based on the container number, it tells them the status of the container and helps them determine when to pick it up. SiteCrafting put a lot of work into this project. We really appreciate that."
