Founded in 1972 and headquartered in Seattle, WA, Princess Alaska Lodges is a division of Princess Cruises, catering to land and rail travelers looking to explore Alaska. Princess Alaska Lodges partnered with SiteCrafting and GearLab to create a fresh new website that complimented their partner websites, while truly highlighting the beauty and adventure of Alaska. Their primary goal was to create a better shopping experience for users by having a responsive design and focusing on better organization of their content.

  • Task

Create a better shopping experience for customers with a responsive design and focus on better organization of content. In addition, the website needed to compliment their partner websites.

  • Solution

We focused heavily on organizing content, ensuring that information was easy to scan and making secondary information less prominent.

  • Result

The new website highlights the beauty and adventure of Alaska, while making it easy for customers to navigation information and book their trip.

User Experience

Prior to starting design, our UX team GearLab focused heavily on identifying content types and creating a new information architecture. Using prototypes, they outlined the types of templates to create and the new organizational patterns that would group similar types of content together.

Third Party Integration

We integrated with a third-party tool that drives the Princess Lodges booking, reservations, and tour availability. We worked closely with that vendor to determine what content would be pulled from their tool and what content would be handled within WordPress. We chose WordPress because of it’s SEO capabilities as well as the flexibility it provides as a content management system.
