The Washington Athletic Club, or the WAC as it’s affectionately known, has been a Seattle landmark since 1930 as a home away from home for the who’s who in Seattle business, political, and social circles. They offer diverse opportunities and services for Club Members including a retail store, restaurant, inn, spa, gym, and events.

With more than 25 events daily, managing content has been a challenge as it was a time consuming, manual process. Automating some of the information, particularly events, was on their list of priorities.

  • Task

    Create a responsive website that improves event management, integrates lifestyle content, and allows for cross-marketing opportunities throughout the website.

  • Solution

    Provide the ability for custom event and activity schedule management, integrate with third party tools for bookings and member login, and have secure pages for members only. We conducted user testing with WAC members to create better navigation that balanced user perspectives and content needs.

  • Result

    A website with streamlined navigation, making it easier for members to find activities, register for events, book a room at the Inn, online bill pay, and request tours.

What Members Want

Our UX team, GearLab, conducted a series of user tests to better understand customer needs. Through card sorting with WAC employees and first click testing with WAC members, we were able to create an information architecture that balanced content needs, user perspectives, and departmental structures.
